Riparian habitat threatened by proposed project, San Pedro River advocates say

The San Pedro River basin has been called a biological treasure in the desert. It’s a riparian refuge for more than 60 species of mammals, 14 species of fish and 41 species of reptiles and amphibians, and the millions of birds that use the river as a migratory flyway. But critics of a proposal to build a utility corridor along the west side of the river say it could threaten the health of the habitat and the survival of the wildlife.
